Kitzbühel cable cars: multi-million euro investment in top quality

The ‘Bergbahn Kitzbühel’ cable car company is one of the biggest cable car companies in Austria with 53 lifts and 179 km of pistes. Each year, substantial investment is made to improve the quality of the pistes, cable cars and snow-making facilities. Following a 26.2 million euro investment in 2010, 14.1 million have been invested this year.

The biggest purchase for the winter of 2011/12 is the new 6-seater Resterhöhe chair lift – a detachable chair lift with a weather hood and heated seating which replaces two lifts. Good news for families:

Travel on the new chair lift is free for children and young people born in 1993 and after during its first season.

The pistes on the family Streif and the popular Maierlhang slope have been extended. And this winter, the seats on the Hahnenkammbahn cable car are cosy and warm!

Over the last few years, new ultra-modern connections have gradually been added: the Maierlbahn with its 10-seater cabin cable car with heated seating, the 8-seater Ochsalm chair lift with weather hood and heated seating in Kirchberg, the 8-seater ‘Kasereck’ chair lift and the spectacular 3S hanging ropeway between Pengelstein and Talsenhöhe. 760 snow machines provide a double snow guarantee when combined with the high levels of natural snowfall which fall here thanks to the North-West geographical barrier of the main Alpine ridge. 31 high-tech snow groomers and 28,000 hours of work per winter season are required to ensure the perfect ‘shape’ of the 170 km of pistes.

KitzSki has launched the future of TV in the mountains with its 100 LCD monitors: the latest details about the weather, snow, pistes, lifts and avalanche warnings are provided at 31 sites across the ski resort. This enables Kitzbühel to do justice to its reputation as a fantastic ski resort.

Skigebied Kitzbühel-Kirchberg

Kitzbühel belichaamt als bijna geen enkele andere wintervakantieregio romantische charme, sportieve uitdagingen en verfrissende levenslust. De unieke, sprookjesachtige sfeer van de Gamsstad tijdens het koude seizoen, de unieke geografische ligging en het karakter van de regio, het bijna eindeloze aanbod aan uiteenlopende sportmogelijkheden evenals de talrijke evenementen en festivals van internationale klasse maken Kitzbühel van jaar tot jaar de nummer-één-winterbestemming voor meer dan een miljoen mensen. Hier luidt het motto “Duik onder in een betoverende wereld vol onbegrensde mogelijkheden”.

De regio rond het skiparadijs Kitzbühel is in een uiterst gunstig noordwestelijk stuwgebied gelegen, waardoor sneeuw verzekerd is tot in het dal van december tot april. Dankzij de grasbedekking tot op een hoogte van 2.000 m volstaan zelfs relatief kleine hoeveelheden sneeuw om onbezorgd aan wintersport te doen en dat voor een lange periode.

Sinds de 3S-baan tussen de skigebieden Hahnenkamm/Pengelstein en Jochberg/Resterhöhe in gebruik genomen werd, opende zich de volledig nieuwe wereld van de “skisafari” in het skigebied Kitzbühel. Sindsdien kan je in het hele skigebied van Aschau tot pass Thurn in beide richtingen skiën zonder beroep te moeten doen op een gratis pendelbus voor de terugtocht. Bovendien biedt de regio voor kinderen, jongeren, gezinnen en beginners een zeer bijzondere service: In elk dorp in het skigebied kan je in het dal kosteloos gebruik maken van oefenliften.
Kortom, sneeuwzekerheid en optimaal onderhouden pistes nodigen je uit om onbegrensd te genieten van het skiën. Vooral gezinnen waarderen het all-round aanbod met voor elk wat wils.
