This stage is entirely dedicated to the Weinidylle Nature Park and its lovely hilly landscape: After leaving the vineyards of Deutsch Schützen-Bergen behind, you hike through idyllic forest landscapes to the charming hamlets of St. Kathrein and the Edlitzer Bergen. Over the Wintner mountain chapel, a small paved road and a section of hiking trail lead you along the hills to the cellar district of the Prostrumer Mountain with its wine taverns. A detour up to the pilgrimage church Maria Weinberg, along some field paths, and then on through alleys full of historic cellar houses to the Wine and Open-Air Museum Moschendorf. Take your time for a visit – it offers interesting insights into the life and tradition of Burgenland.
The last section to Heiligenbrunn is to be seen as a bridge between the Weinidylle Nature Park and the beautiful town of Heiligenbrunn: it leads you on paved farm and cycle paths through forests and along fields to your stage destination.

From your stage start in Deutsch Schützen-Bergen, follow the path from the previous stage up to a fork in the road. Here take the left gravel path through a ditch to reach another small road. Take this road uphill to the right, until after a small right-left combination you stand in a vineyard. Go up the vineyard and at the upper end take a field path to the left. Follow this until at the highest point you turn right onto a forest path. From here you hike for a longer time through a very beautiful oak forest, until a left-right combination, always straight ahead. You come to a meadow, at whose right edge you walk to a small paved road. Here, turn right and then, in sight of the church of St. Kathrein, turn left until you reach a small pedestrian bridge near the village, which crosses a ditch. Cross this bridge and continue across the following meadow to St. Kathrein.
On the street, go left and after 50 m before the church turn into a small street. Follow this past the church to the right and follow the very beautiful small street uphill through an avenue to the Magdalene Chapel visible from below. In front of the chapel take the forest path leading left, which soon leads into the forest and brings you to a small paved road. Here turn right uphill and at the top at the crossing turn left onto another small paved road, which you follow above the small hamlet Edlitzer Bergen and at the next crossing straight ahead.
Slightly uphill you come to a left curve, where you turn right at a wayside shrine onto a paved farm road. Immediately behind the first old house turn left and follow the paved farm road to a somewhat larger road short before the Wintner mountain chapel. Here turn right, pass the chapel and follow the road gently downhill for a long time. After a long left curve, turn sharply right onto a small paved farm road which you follow uphill for 500 m.
Now turn left onto a forest road, which soon becomes a field path. The path leads through meadows and then through forest along a gently pronounced hill and becomes increasingly natural. After a while you reach vineyards again, where you reach a small paved farm road. Here turn left and at the next junction turn right downhill to the larger road, which always runs along the cellar houses. Follow this road along cellar houses to the right, turn right again at a crossing and shortly after see to the right above the pilgrimage church Maria Weinberg. Below the church – behind a beautiful covered seating area – turn right into the small street that leads up to the pilgrimage church. However, after 50 m take the beautiful footpath to the left, which takes you up to the pilgrimage church Maria Weinberg.
Pass the church on the left and reach again the small street that leads around the church in a circular route. Follow this street to the left and downhill back to the larger road. Follow the road about 200 m to the right and turn into a field path leading straight ahead at a slight right curve. Follow this field path with a left and right curve until you stand in front of the outdoor swimming pool area. Turn left to a farm road and follow it to the right back to the larger cellar house street. Now continue following this street and pass many beautiful cellar houses to the Wine and Open-Air Museum Moschendorf.
At the junction behind the Wine and Open-Air Museum keep right and follow the cycle path that runs parallel to the road towards Güssing through the Moschendorf forest. In a long left curve a farm road branches off straight ahead. This farm road takes you, with two left turns, to a large roundabout. Cross the roundabout, taking the second exit, and turn right at the next junction. After 100 m turn left again, then at the next junction turn right once more; here a cycle path also uses the farm roads, and you now walk straight ahead through fields over the paved farm roads to Heiligenbrunn, your stage destination.
