Skigebied
Pec pod Sněžkouis not only known as a starting point to Sněžka, the highest mountain of the Czech Republic, but also as an active mountain centre in winter as well as in summer season. Pec pod Sněžkou profits from its location and the altitude, when it is usually covered with snow cover for a period of 5-6 months. Climatic and snow conditions are usually a nice surprise for many visitors to Pec pod Sněžkou.
In the Ski Resort Pec pod Sněžkou - Velká Úpa, there are 14 m of downhill courses of various difficulty levels, 2 chairlifts and 13 ski lifts. The skiing terrains are mainly popular with families with children because they can choose from nursery slopes up to difficult downhill tracks. Night skiing is ensured on two floodlit ski slopes Javor in Pec pod Sněžkou or on the ski slope Modřín in Velká Úpa. Cross-country ski tracks are regularly maintained for cross-country skiers.
