Encamp

Encamp is the gateway to the ski slopes of GrandValira, the largest ski area in the Pyrenees.

The Funicamp is the longest funicular in Europe has made Encamp a recognised tourist destination both in winter and in summer, which is also interesting for outdoor activities. In Encamp you can go hiking, fishing, climbing, via ferrata, etc.

Encamp has become a high-quality destination for sports tourism and hosts top teams at the Encamp Sports and Cultural Complex and the Pas de la Casa Sports Centre.

Encamp is a stopover on the famous GR11 hiking trail, which runs along the southern side of the Pyrenees from the Bay of Biscay to the Mediterranean. And also the GR7, the other hiking trail that crosses the Pyrenees from east to south and is part of the E4 long-distance European hiking trail that goes from Greece to Gibraltar.

Encamp offers its guests a great gastronomic variety, combining typical mountain dishes with exotic flavours from foreign cultures. Gastronomy and culture are part of the town's identity.

Carnival, the "Escudella de Sant Antoni", the "Festa Major" or Christmas are an integral part of the cultural calendar of the inhabitants of Encampadà.

Encamp has managed to combine tradition and modernity, not only in the cultural field, but also in architecture. Romanesque buildings such as the church of Sant Romà de les Bons can be found next to 20th century buildings such as the administrative building of the Comú d'Encamp, two styles that coexist in perfect harmony.
