Great History. Vibrant City.
For many visitors to the Vienna Alps, Wiener Neustadt is the first stop. Seven railway lines start and end in this lively city. Strolling through the city leads visitors to inviting cafés, charming shops, and historical landmarks. Once an imperial residence, Wiener Neustadt has a rich past that can still be explored today. Cultural sites such as the revitalized Kasematten and the St. Peter an der Sperr Museum beautifully blend the old with the new. Throughout the year, events and congresses bring life to the city.
If you're looking for green spaces, you can relax in one of the parks, take a boat ride on the Wiener Neustadt Canal, or hop on a bike. Wiener Neustadt is a cyclist-friendly city and serves as the starting point for several regional and long-distance cycling routes.
Or why not take a guided tour? A personal city guide will accompany you through the historic center, showcasing all the must-see attractions and hidden gems.
Ready, set, ride!
Cycling in and around Wiener Neustadt is a perfect way to enjoy the scenic landscapes. The historic old town and the flat surroundings make it ideal for exploring on two wheels. The "Museum Cycling Route" starts at St. Peter an der Sperr Museum, and rental stations like nextbike can be found at the train station and various other locations.
Two Bett+Bike accommodations offer perfect services for cyclists: Hotel Zentral and Le Parc. Coming from the north, the popular EuroVelo9 follows the Wiener Neustadt Canal, passing through the city and continuing southward. From here, cyclists can take scenic detours, such as the Piestingtal Cycle Path. For mountain biking and downhill enthusiasts, the Wexl Trails in St. Corona am Wechsel are easily accessible.
Wonderful Hiking Adventures
Whether you're looking for a city walk or a longer hiking adventure, Wiener Neustadt is a great starting point with excellent public transport connections.
From here, long-distance hikers can set out on the Wiener Alpenbogen Trail, a 21-stage route that stretches from the lowlands, through the rolling hills of the Bucklige Welt, to the mountain landscapes of Rax and Schneeberg.
For breathtaking views, the 80-kilometer Rosalia Circular Hiking Trail is another great option. Starting in Wiener Neustadt, this three- to four-day journey takes you through the gently rolling landscapes of Lanzenkirchen and Bad Erlach, introducing you to the beautiful Bucklige Welt. Conveniently, all starting and ending points are well connected to the public transport network.
