The Alta Valtellina has made a name for itself in the history of Italian skiing. This is the home of the Sertorelli family, whose Stefano Sertorelli won the first Italian gold medal at the 1936 Winter Olympics.

The brothers Severino and Aristide Compagnoni, who won the bronze medal in the relay at the 1937 World Ski Championships and, together with their third brother Ottavio, brought home nine Italian relay championship titles, also come from here.

A long tradition in cross-country skiing. A tradition that has accompanied the promotion of this discipline in Valdidentro along the Viola trail. A tradition that is still upheld today, and which has been continued since the 1980s with the construction of the lift system on Monte Masucco alongside the promotion of alpine skiing.

This new ski area in San Colombano connects the Valdidentro with the Valdisotto. The Alta Valtellina ski area, one of the largest ski areas in Italy, consists of the areas of Santa Caterina, Bormio Vallecetta, Valdidentro San Colombano and Livigno. This ski arena offers a wide variety of slopes with varying gradients and levels of difficulty, spread over different slopes and sunny locations.

This ski area is an Eldorado for ambitious skiers in search of black pistes, as well as for skiers who want to glide down wide and easy slopes and recharge their batteries in the sun and crisp mountain air.
