Slow Mountain - Magic Mountain of Slowness.

Contrary to the trend of constantly increasing the pace, wanting to offer guests even more and making the slopes faster, steeper, trendier and more snow-sure, the initiators at Schatzalp are putting their money on the "Slow Mountain" card - the first decelerated ski area in Switzerland. The focus is on the needs of older guests, families with small children and beginner ski classes. Enjoyable skiing, with less hustle and bustle, fewer fears and in a cosy atmosphere - that is the motto.

*Magic mountain of slowness

In recent years it has become increasingly dangerous on the ski slopes. Many winter sports enthusiasts are unsettled.
As a result, people may still go on winter holidays, but they refrain from skiing.

*Relaxing, enjoying nature and having fun should be possible again as in the past on Schatzalp/Strela.

The first "decelerated" ski area is being created, Slow Mountain. The Schatzalp/Strela ski area, located on the sunny side of Davos, is ideally suited for this purpose: gently sloping slopes, accessible from the centre of Davos Platz by the renovated funicular in just four minutes.

The summer of 2009 was used to completely renovate our "old" facilities. But don't worry, this only concerns safety. There is one thing we are not changing about the lifts in the ski area: they run as slowly as they used to. And one more thing: we guarantee natural snow! So no artificial snow. This may mean that we have to open later or close earlier in spring. The slopes will still be groomed every night, but only as long as nature allows and there is enough snow.
