Hiking over 1,000 hills

Viewing platforms, hilltop castles, and little-known vantage points are among the region’s most beautiful hiking destinations. The highest point is the Hutwisch viewing platform at 896 meters above sea level. The hike there, featuring the catchy tune “Bakabu,” is particularly well-suited for families. And if you’re up for a bit more, the 82-kilometer Rosalia Circular Hiking Trail is just the thing. Thanks to its location, this long-distance trail is also suitable for beginners.

Cycle through the valleys and over the hills

A network of quiet side roads crisscrosses the Bucklige Welt region. The route winds constantly up and down, over hills and through valleys. Over 700 kilometers are marked as e-bike trails, but the area is also perfect for exploring on a road bike.

Wellness with added value

Two special springs bubble up in the Bucklige Welt region: in Bad Schönau and Bad Erlach. While an adults-only resort in Bad Erlach brings an Asian ambiance to the Bucklige Welt, the focus further south in Bad Schönau is clearly on health and mindfulness. The town has a natural remedy that has been proven effective for over 70 years: natural carbon dioxide gas.
